the allergoid (P 1⁄4 0.16; Mann-Whitney). Linear regression coefficients obtained between immunoglobulin reactivity against both extracts were: r2 1⁄4 0.51 for specific IgE and r2 1⁄4 0.83 for specific IgG. An important decrease in the allergenic activity, measured by inhibition ELISA, was clearly observed. The MS/MS assay revealed the presence of the mayor allergen, and some isoforms, in non-modified and allergoid extracts. Conclusions: Results obtained demonstrate that the glutaraldehyde polymerization process induces an important decrease in specific IgE binding to allergoids of P. pratense while there are no significant differences in specific IgG binding. The allergenic composition of the P. pratense allergoid was equivalent to the non-modified pollen extract.

Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: Could It Be Related to Cell-Mediated Immunity Defect in Response to Candida Antigen?

Objective Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) is a common cause of morbidity affecting millions of women worldwide. Patients with RVVC are thought to have an underlying immunologic defect. This study has been established to evaluate cell mediated immunity defect in response to candida antigen in RVVC cases. MaterialsAndMethods Our cross sectional study was performed in 3 groups of RVVC pa...

Gain-of-Function Mutations in STAT1: A Recently Defined Cause for Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidiasis Disease Mimicking Combined Immunodeficiencies

Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidiasis (CMC) is the chronic, recurrent, noninvasive Candida infections of the skin, mucous membranes, and nails. A 26-month-old girl was admitted with the complaints of recurrent oral Candidiasis, diarrhea, and respiratory infections. Candida albicans grew in oral mucosa swab. CMV and EBV DNA titers were elevated. She had hypergammaglobulinemia; IgE level, percentages...

A gain-of-function mutation of STAT1 in a 3-year-old child with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis and autoimmune hepatitis: a case report

Background Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis (CMC) is a heterogeneous group of primary immunodeficiency diseases (PID) characterized by chronic and recurrent infections of the skin, nails, and oropharynx, mostly caused by Candida sp. CMC is often associated with autoimmune and endocrine disorders. However, CMC may be the only or the main phenotype in patients with AD IL-17F and AR IL-17RA defic...

Recurrent genital candidosis and iron metabolism.

It was thought possible that recurrent genital candidosis, like chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, might be related to abnormalities in iron metabolism. Haemoglobin, serum iron, and serum ferritin levels of patients with recurrent genital candidosis were compared with those of patients who harboured yeasts but had no history of 'thrush', and with a control group of patients with no evidence of ...
